The Vineyard plantation in this region is ancient, going back to the times when Romans occupied the Iberian Peninsula. Evidence of this grape growing region was found in a vineyard called “A forca.” Archeologists found a statue dating back to the first century AD of a man with a basket of grapes on his head. Nowadays the statue can be seen in the National Museum of Archaeology in Lisbon.
Eighty percent of the grapes used for this blend are indigenous to the Beira region.
